  • It Wont power up??

i have a puter that when i press the power on button it does nothing.
i have checked the power supply with my meter and it looks ok.
i have even tried another power supply but still nothing
the mobo green led comes on
i hear no beep and the drives or monitor do nothing
    any ideas?

I would reduce the system to its simplest components, pull the mobo out of the case and plug the P.S. in and only the minimum items required for boot up with it just laying on the bench/desk. In other words, leave all the drives and cards disconnected until after you get the unit to post.
The theory behind this is to eliminate the possibility of a short between the mobo and case and any other components that could be causing the problem.
So at this point you will have a mobo on the table with a P.S. connected and of coarse a CPU and memory. The unit should boot like this and error when it gets to the place where it can't find a drive with a master boot record.

The last unit I had with this symptom the end result was a bad CPU.

    hope this helps
