I slept pretty good and woke up ready for day 2, Kathy, Rachael and I went to the shops to buy some things to take home. I sat on the benches outside the shops while Kathy and Rachael went in and out of each one. When they were done shopping and headed back to the ship with the first load, I hailed a taxi to take me golfing.
The taxi driver, Shortee "Anishka Smith" told me it was about a 25 minute drive to Fortune Hills Golf Club, we talked about the Island and some of the fairs she had in her cab over the years, hard to believe wealthy people use cabs too, I thought they used limos. We talked about Chicago some also. When I got to the golf course she told me that she would just take a nap while I golfed 9 holes so I would not have to try and get another cab all the way out there, that was nice to have a taxi already waiting when it was time to go.
I rented some golf clubs and a cart for $35 total, it would have been $50 if I would have had time for 18 holes. I started off on hole one, but I found out it was ladies leagues and some ladies "asked me" to get off the tee box and start out on 9 instead so they could get started ahead of me. On 9 I met another group of "ladies" who basically asked me the same thing, so Off to 8 I went. Around by us if it's just a single person normally you let play through because they will be faster, not the other way around, not sure If I understand the logic. I shot pretty good early in the day, I made boogie on my first 2 holes, made a shot on nine from about 50 yards out that landed on the green about 2 foot from the cup, I tapped in for the boogie. The clubs I had were not as nice as my own, The one wood I had I was only able to hit the ball about 200 yards with, the 3 wood was bent and all the grips were cracked and shot. I could not beat the price and I am not complaining, In the end I had a great time, golfing in the beautiful Bahama weather, the coarse was in good shape about as good as Lake Moore or Twin lakes, the fairways were in great shape and the greens were big and smooth. I shot a 56, not my best and not my worst. Here is a look down the fairway of the 4th holes, a par 5 at 530 yards.
The taxi took me back to the ship around 3, I picked up a couple of Monsters in the straw market before I got back onto the ship, Kathy also bought me a Monster and a "Diplomatcos Habana" Cuban Cigar. I have not smoked it yet but I will have to burn it up sometime before we get back into the United States, pretty sure its illegal there. Either tonight after the wedding or Thursday night after the Great Stirrup cay Island.
