The reaction to Howard Schultz saying that he's going to run for President as an independent in 2020 is reminding me of why I usually vote third party. The sense of entitlement that the two major parties have towards our votes is downright creepy.
Seriously, there are Democrats out there having panic attacks because they think Schultz running is going to lead to Trump getting reelected. Listen -- if your candidate is so weak that they can't win a three or four-person race, that's on them. It's not on us to just vote for whoever you put up. It's your responsibility to come up with a candidate who can actually win on something more than just their party label.
Candidates seem to have forgotten that it's their job to win my vote. It's not my job to vote for them.
I've taken a lot of crap and lost more than a few friends over my decision to vote for Gary Johnson in 2016. But you know what? If I had a chance to do it all over again, I'd do the same thing. And, with the way things are going, I'll probably vote third party in 2020 as well.
Or maybe, I just won't vote at all.
Who knows?
The great thing about America is that I have the choice.
