(April is National Poetry Month so I'll be sharing some of my favorite poems all month long!)

by Remco Campert

I take you
where the actors pinch ass
play cards
read stockmarket quotes
stare at the dust
do yoga
cough behind their hands

where they’re between two lives
do not fulfill a single rule
and yet are in their place

On that spot
between coming on and exit
showing off and showering
we too belong

Bodies about to budge
mouths open to speak
but not yet . . .
